Mel’s Story:

Mel’s is a classic Rag to Riches story. He was brought up in the mean back streets of Salford. 

Semi-illiterate, he managed to blag his way through army service. 

After leaving, he started his first venture as a rag and bone man without success, then became a commercial bin man. 

He spotted an opportunity with broken wooden pallets. He refurbished them and sold them back to the transport industry. 

His wife, with a lot of patience, taught him to read.



Over a decade of hard work, he built the business from the ground, becoming one of the first European businesses to renovate pallets and eventually became a multi-millionaire.
